This version of "Prometheus" is rather different than the film screenplay. However, it remains just as unclear as to why the "Engineers" sought to destroy what appears to be their "colony," Earth, using alien pods. (and it's clear they have other colonies they might be about to destroy) Seeing as this is the prequel to all the films, this is a disappointing "finish," or explanation. The Prometheus myth says the Titan Prometheus defied Zeus and made man from clay and gave him the power of fire, which lead to civilization. There is this aspect of the story added. But the leap from the creative to destructive god-like Engineers remains opaque and confusing. We don't know if they found or made the aliens; we don't know why they wanted to kill humanity. It's the same muddle the final film was.

Ann, you're totally wrong. The movie was awesome, and they did show us the origin of the Alien creatures. The first chestbuster came out of the Engeneer after the giant face hugger, given birth to by Dr. Shaw, planted an embryo inside it (Engeneer). Won't you try watching the movie again, darling? This time, with a lot of attention.

While I did find this movie enjoyable it really didn't explain a whole lot of the Xenomorph backstory. I understand that the black fluid was somehow changing the DNA whatever it comes in contact with. The new version of the Xeno was kind of interesting, I believe they called it "Deacon". it was kind a nice cross between the Xeno we know and love and something different. That being said IMHO I believe this script would have been a better fit for the Alien Universe. It ties in nicely to the original Alien movie and explains a lot more of the basic evolution of the Xeno and sets up the story as a prequel.
